
Nails are one of the most important beautiful parts of body. In daily life chores hands have to do a lot of work suffering with all environmental and seasonal effects. Thus Nails need more care and protection being an integral part of hands. In order to maintain healthy, strong and pretty nails here are some suggestions to be followed:-
If your nails are prone to cracking, massage vitamin E oil on your nails and their cuticles as moisturizing agent. Bottle of vitamin E oil placed in your bath room may remind us to apply it on the nails, if we are forgetful. Other moisturizers containing alpha hydroxyl acids or lanoline may also be used to massage your nails and cuticles. Here are some food elements whose deficiency may cause nail problems:-
Vitamin-A & calcium- causing dryness and brittleness.
Protein, folic acid and vitamin C- causing hang nails
Protein- causing white bands across the nails
Hydrochloric acid- causing splitting nails.
Vitamin B12- leading to excessive dryness, very rounded and curved ends and darkening of nails.
Zinc-causing development of white spots on the nails.
Essential fatty acids- causing red skin around your cuticles. It may be caused by poor metabolism .
In case you feel that your diet is not balanced, don't forget to consult your health advisor before taking any special diet.
Eat Foods like whole grains, berries, kale and citrus fruits as it contains folic acid an effective ingredient to promote healthy and strong nails.
Drink plenty of water daily. At least 8 glasses of water should be drunk to keep your body hydrated. Improvement in water intake has positive effect on skin and nails for their nourishment and beauty.
In order to maintain healthy and pretty nails, never use nails as tools for pricking, picking, digging or screwing. Using nails as tools may lead to breaking, having scratches and physical damage.
If you like healthy and pretty nails, avoid alcoholic products which leads to splitting of nails.
While cutting your nails, do not file the corners of your nails; it may lead to weaken and your nails become more prone to break easily.
When nails get wet it swell and again they shrink when it becomes dry, so frequently getting wet your nails makes them weak. So avoid your nails getting wet during daily life chores, cleaning or washing by using cotton lined rubber gloves to protect your pretty nails.
Always use proper gloves while working in the garden, cleaning or putting your hands in damp soil, chemical, liquid sprays or fertilizers. Try to use rubber gloves to keep your hands and nails dry, thick gloves made of cow-hide may be used during hard work like digging or weeding during gardening.
Moisturizing of hands and nails is necessary before wearing cleaning or gardening gloves. Try to use a good a quality moisturizing lotion or hand creams, containing oils like Shea butter, eucalyptus flower or jojoba.
If you are wearing nail polish all the times, it is unhealthy practice. At least one day in a week, leave your nails without nails polish other wise nails get dehydrated and become weak and lusterless. So give some time to your nails for breathing.
